NFL’s first transgender cheerleader makes claim about Panthers departure: ‘Cut because I’m trans’

Justine Lindsay, the NFL’s first transgender cheerleader with the Carolina Panthers, has opened up about her departure from the team.
Lindsay, who joined the Carolina TopCats in 2022, left the squad in August and said her exit was related to her being transgender.
“I was cut because I’m trans. I don’t want to hear anyone say, ‘She didn’t want to come back.’ Why would I not want to return to an organization I’ve been part of for three years?” Lindsay told Gaye Magazine in a livestream last week.

She emphasized that she holds no personal ill will toward the Panthers but felt the team failed to consider the bigger picture. “I love them. I appreciate everything they’ve done for me, but I feel like I was done wrong,” she said.
“It felt like a slap in the face—not just for me, but for the youth,” Lindsay added, noting that her departure came shortly after President Donald Trump took office for his second term.
In the first month of his term, President Trump signed an executive order barring schools and colleges that receive federal funding from allowing men to participate in women’s sports or use women’s locker rooms and restrooms, prompting several organizations, including the NCAA, to update their policies.
Fox News Digital reached out to the Panthers for comment.
