Shocking footage from Bangkok shows Miss Jamaica, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, plunging off the stage during the Miss Universe preliminary evening gown round in Thailand.

Henry, wearing a striking orange gown, stepped off the edge of the dark runway and fell, according to social media clips. Audience members immediately leapt from their seats to check on her. Later footage showed Henry being carried away on a stretcher.

She was taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital, and the Miss Universe Jamaica organization confirmed she is not suffering any life-threatening injuries.

“Medical professionals are attending to her care and have advised that she is not suffering from any life-threatening injuries; however, they continue to conduct tests to ensure her full recovery,” the organization stated on social media. “We kindly ask everyone to stay upbeat, lift her in prayer, and send positive thoughts as she receives the necessary medical care.”

Raul Rocha, owner of the Miss Universe pageant, also reassured fans that Henry is “under good care” and miraculously avoided any broken bones.

“I was there with her and her family, and thankfully, there are no broken bones. She will remain under observation for the rest of the night, and we will continue to support her,” Rocha said. “Our prayers go out for her prompt recovery.”

The preliminary rounds, held on Wednesday, included swimsuit, national costume, and evening gown competitions, all part of the lead-up to Friday’s finals.

Henry, an ophthalmologist and founder of Jamaica’s See Me Foundation—which advocates for the visually impaired—shared behind-the-scenes glimpses of her preparations on Instagram before the fall.

This year’s Miss Universe pageant has faced controversy. Judge Omar Harfouch resigned from the official jury days before the competition, alleging that an “impromptu jury” with personal ties to contestants had predetermined which women would advance.

Additionally, former Miss Universe executive Nawat Itsaragrisil was dismissed after a confrontation with Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, which prompted a dozen contestants to walk out of a pre-pageant event in solidarity.
