Tish Hyman says she was asked to leave a Gold’s Gym after encountering a transgender individual in the women’s locker room while she was naked. Hyman, a lesbian and advocate for women’s spaces, detailed the incident on Facebook, describing the moment she turned to find the person, dressed in traditionally male clothing and wearing lip gloss, staring at her.
According to Hyman, the individual claimed to be a woman and demanded she leave the locker room, reportedly saying, “Straight women like dick, and they’re probably looking at me more than you.” Hyman said gym staff told her they could not intervene due to legal restrictions.

“I was naked, scared, and being yelled at. He called me a bitch in front of everyone,” she wrote. Hyman’s membership was reportedly terminated by Gold’s Gym after the incident.
Hyman has also criticized San Francisco State Senator Scott Wiener, who has announced a bid for Pelosi’s congressional seat in 2026, in connection to broader concerns about women’s spaces.
The individual involved in the locker room encounter has been reported to have a criminal history, including a past domestic abuse conviction, and later took the name of the woman he previously assaulted.

Far-left commentator Joy Reid addressed the situation on her podcast, “Reid This Reid That,” saying that encountering male genitalia in a women’s locker room would “freak” her out.
“What it’s saying is if I turn around, and I see a penis in front of me, inside of the room, I would probably go to management and say, ‘Why is there somebody — a naked man — in this room?’” Reid said. She emphasized that her concerns were about safety and privacy rather than an attack on transgender people.
Reid added that while accommodations for transgender individuals are important, the discomfort of other patrons should also be taken seriously.
