The Evil Unleashed in 2008: From Obama, to Biden, to Harris, to Mamdani

Until Barack Obama took office, I still had a decent amount of trust in the federal government. I understood that leaders on the Left — and some on the Right — often shaped narratives for their own purposes. The mainstream media leaned leftward and framed nearly every domestic and international story through that lens. Still, it was possible to look past the spin and get to the truth.

A Hope That Never Materialized

When Barack Obama rose to national prominence and ultimately became president, I thought: I’d never vote for him, but perhaps some good could come from his election. A Black president could serve as an important role model for young people. Even if his ideology leaned far to the Left, I hoped the country might still see some benefit.

That hope evaporated quickly. Electing a community organizer brought predictable results. One of his first symbolic moves — removing the bust of Winston Churchill from the Oval Office and sending it back to the U.K. — signaled a dismissive attitude toward both American and world history.

His Department of Justice, under Eric Holder, soon proved deeply politicized. Obama’s subtle embrace of socialism was evident during his visit to Cuba, where he stood in the public square beneath murals of Che Guevara and Lenin. Democrats applauded his every move, but rarely paused to look past the public image.

Early Warnings Ignored

Obama’s choice of Joe Biden as vice president spoke volumes. Biden had long been known in Washington as a serial embellisher, never the sharpest figure in the Senate, and someone whose questionable behavior should have disqualified him from even minor public office. Yet he became vice president — and as we now know, used that position to enrich his family while compromising the country well before 2020.

Obama’s second term only compounded the damage. The children held in border facilities during his administration received no scrutiny from the Left, yet the same photos were later used by mainstream outlets to falsely claim they were taken under President Trump.

Perhaps the most corrosive decision Obama made was how he handled the transfer of power. While past presidents — aside from some petty antics during the Clinton transition — ensured smooth handoffs, Obama presided over what was arguably a deliberate effort to sabotage the incoming Trump administration. For that reason alone, many view his legacy with deep skepticism.

A Lasting Impact With Lasting Damage

Obama’s most dangerous contribution wasn’t just economic disruption or political upheaval. He managed to set race relations back decades and embolden American adversaries abroad. Yet millions of voters ignored the warning signs and chose a man whose résumé was thin and whose associations raised serious concerns.

Evidence of his troubling background — from launching his political career in the home of unapologetic domestic terrorist William Ayers to spending over 20 years in the pews of Jeremiah Wright, a pastor who openly disparaged America and its culture — was readily available. Still, he won, and then won again.

Opening the Door to the Present Crisis

Seventeen years after his first national victory, the consequences are still unfolding. Without Obama, the current Biden administration would not exist. Kamala Harris would not be at the top of the Democratic ticket. And far-left figures like Zohran Mamdani would have had no meaningful political platform.

Eventually, when objective historians review the full picture, Obama will likely be ranked as one of the worst presidents in American history — second only to the man many consider his political heir, Joe Biden.
