A shopping trip at Southland Center mall in Taylor, Michigan, turned violent when a woman allegedly attacked a 19-year-old inside a Kids Foot Locker, police say.
Suniya Jenkins told local Fox affiliate WJBK that she was in the store watching a commotion unfold after the woman reportedly lost her temper when someone behind her in line called her a “broke b—” because her card was declined. Jenkins says she did not make the comment but entered the store to see what was happening.
“I think it was unfair to me to get stabbed,” Jenkins said, explaining that the woman allegedly stabbed her four times with a kitchen knife, hitting her neck, stomach, and thigh. She is currently recovering from a punctured lung.
Jenkins described the suspect as screaming at people near the register while arguing, all while accompanied by her children. “As the argument got verbal, she put her hand in her purse and told me she was going to shoot me,” Jenkins said. “I didn’t even realize I had been stabbed until after the altercation.”
Police confirm that the suspect was arrested and is expected to face charges. Jenkins said she plans to press charges but expressed concern for the suspect’s children.
Authorities did not respond to requests for further comment. Jenkins is expected to make a full recovery.
