ICE arrests 15 people in Kenner, Louisiana after resident complaints

KENNER, La. —
Federal immigration authorities arrested fifteen individuals Friday night in Kenner following a joint operation at the city’s popular boat launch and pier park area.

According to Kenner police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), state police, and local officers conducted the investigation around 9 p.m. after a growing number of resident complaints about trash, noise, and traffic disruptions near the waterfront.

Police said the coordinated effort came in response to ongoing public concerns about the area’s condition and safety.

Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley released a statement addressing the community’s frustrations:

“I have received complaints from families and residents who could not enjoy this venue. This conduct goes back several years but has been escalating. The disrespectful behavior at the pier and park area had to be addressed. We have patrolled it, maintained a presence, and tried community outreach—to no avail. Constant complaints of trash, including discarded dirty diapers, beer cans, and litter, reckless driving, noise, and harassment will not be tolerated. This conduct has been escalating and enough is enough! KPD will not allow our community to get bullied and our quality of life impacted. We will conduct these missions in the future as needed.”

Authorities have not released details on whether the individuals detained by ICE are in the country illegally or what specific charges, if any, they may face.

WDSU News requested additional information, including the ages and places of origin of those taken into custody. Police said that information was not immediately available.
