Long Island Man Needs an Attorney
Dear Abby,
I was raised in Long Island, NY, in a very close-knit family. My siblings and I were inseparable, and family has always meant the world to me. So when my father passed away, I was devastated—but even more hurt when I learned he had chosen my aunt, his sister, to be the executor of his estate.
I couldn’t believe it. My father knew how much I loved him and how close we were. Unfortunately, this choice led to conflict with my aunt over some very precious items that held deep sentimental value to me. She refused to let me have them, and what should have been a time of mourning became a period of strife and heartbreak.
I struggle with the question: how can I possibly forgive her for this? Family has always been so important to me, and now I feel a rift that I don’t know how to mend. I want to honor my father’s memory, but I also don’t know how to reconcile my feelings with the reality of what happened.
