‘A MATTER OF DAYS OR EVEN HOURS’: Reports Arise of Impending US Attacks on Drug Cartel Targets on Venezuelan Soil
The pressure has reached a boiling point – attacks next?
Tensions are rising in U.S. anti-drug operations in Latin America, with recent attacks on suspected drug-carrying boats and the deployment of the largest American force to the region since the Cold War.
Reports indicate that the Trump administration has identified potential targets in Venezuela, including military facilities allegedly used to smuggle narcotics. Air and missile strikes are being considered to pressure Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to step down. While President Trump has not publicly confirmed a decision on land strikes, officials say any potential air campaign would focus on sites linking drug trafficking operations to the Maduro regime. U.S. forces have already targeted boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific Ocean suspected of carrying narcotics.

The Wall Street Journal, which President Trump has previously criticized as “fake news,” reported on these developments, and the Miami Herald has corroborated them, suggesting that strikes could occur imminently. According to sources cited by the Herald, the administration has made the decision to target Venezuelan military installations linked to the Soles drug cartel.
“The targets could be struck by air within days or even hours,” one source told the Herald, “and the strikes aim to dismantle the cartel’s leadership. U.S. officials estimate the group exports roughly 500 tons of cocaine annually to the United States and Europe.” Some reports even suggest that Maduro himself could be a potential target.

“So far, U.S. forces have concentrated on maritime operations,” the report said. “Strikes on fast-moving boats off Venezuela’s coast have killed 61 suspected traffickers.” Sources indicate that within the Venezuelan military, there are officials prepared to apprehend Maduro if necessary.
