A dramatic video captured the harrowing moment a Tesla driver narrowly avoided being struck by a military aircraft making an emergency landing on an Oklahoma highway.

The Oklahoma National Guard confirmed that an OA-1K Skyraider II turboprop plane, based out of Will Rogers Air National Guard Base, was forced to make a crash landing Thursday afternoon after experiencing engine failure during a training mission.

Dashcam footage from Tesla driver Matthew Topchian shows the massive aircraft gliding dangerously low over Southeast 119th Street and Sooner Road in Oklahoma City—barely clearing a white van and missing his vehicle by mere feet.

“I was just driving down the road, and out of nowhere I saw this plane coming in really low,” Topchian told KOCO News 5. “As it kept coming, I thought, ‘That plane is about to hit me.’”

Topchian said the entire incident happened within seconds. “There wasn’t time to think. It was just—bam, bam, bam—get out of there,” he said.

After the close call, he pulled over to assess the scene and was stunned by the aftermath. “They took down power lines—there was fire everywhere,” Topchian recalled. “I thought the plane had blown up.”

Emergency crews from the Oklahoma City Fire Department arrived quickly and found that the two pilots onboard had already escaped the aircraft and were miraculously uninjured.

“As soon as we arrived, it was a relief to see the pilots were okay,” said Fire Department spokesman Scott Douglas.

Officials said the aircraft’s failed engine caused it to lose altitude, clipping power lines and igniting a small grass fire before coming to rest on the road. Traffic signs were later found embedded in the plane’s wing.

The Air Force Special Operations Command has launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Topchian later shared his dashcam footage online—only to have people accuse him of fabricating it. “Everyone said it was AI-generated,” he said. “But that’s my real dashcam. It really happened—it looked like something straight out of a movie.”

Grateful to be alive, Topchian said the experience gave him a new outlook. “Tomorrow’s not promised,” he reflected. “Live for today.”
