Trump Triumphs as Walmart Suspends H-1B Visas Hires – Retailer’s Current H-1B Program So Big It Would Have Cost 0 Million

Who would have thought Walmart, of all companies, would illustrate the effectiveness of President Donald Trump’s economic policies?

Bloomberg reports that the retail giant has paused all job offers to candidates requiring H-1B visas that now carry a $100,000 fee under rules implemented last month by the Trump administration.

With 2,390 H-1B visa holders currently employed, Walmart would have faced nearly $240 million in fees if it proceeded with hiring these foreign workers under the new regulations.

“Walmart is committed to hiring and investing in the best talent to serve our customers, while remaining thoughtful about our H-1B hiring approach,” a company spokesperson told Bloomberg. The Trump administration has emphasized that employers have often abused the H-1B system to bring in cheaper foreign labor.

In this instance, however, the labor in question isn’t “cheap.” Bloomberg notes that the new fees primarily affect Walmart’s corporate workforce. From the perspective of Trump’s Make America Great Again (MAGA) agenda, this is positive news: thousands of high-paying jobs could now go to American workers.

The irony of Walmart serving as an example of President Trump’s policies is striking. Remember 2016, when disgraced FBI agent Peter Strzok mocked Trump supporters after visiting a Walmart in Southern Virginia? “Just went to a Southern Virginia Walmart. I could smell the Trump support,” Strzok texted his equally disgraced colleague, Lisa Page, according to Newsweek.

Even more recently, ABC News host George Stephanopoulos attempted to prompt anti-Trump remarks from Walmart CEO John Furner. Instead, Furner praised the president’s tariff policies, noting, “About two-thirds of what we sell is either made, grown, or assembled here in the United States,” on Tuesday’s episode of Good Morning America.

Trump’s tariffs incentivized Walmart to focus on American-made products. Likewise, the new $100,000 H-1B visa fee is encouraging the company to limit foreign hires. The outcome? American workers benefit, and once again, Walmart inadvertently demonstrates the results of President Trump’s economic strategy.
