Report: Transgender Americans to ‘Flee the Country’ as Trump Declared ‘Most Anti-LGBTQ+ President in History’

Vox reported that during President Trump’s 2024 campaign, his rhetoric against what he termed “radical gender ideology” and “transgender insanity” became notably stronger. The outlet cited one frequently aired campaign ad that stated, “Kamala is for they/them. Trump is for you.” As his second term has continued, Vox noted, President Trump’s policies on transgender issues have grown even more assertive.
Katie Sosin, a journalist for The 19th who covers LGBTQ+ policy, told Vox that President Trump’s administration has taken an especially hard line on these matters:
“Trump is generally viewed as the most anti-LGBTQ+ president in history, and a lot of that has to do with his approach to transgender rights. When he first got into office in 2017, there were still questions about how he would handle LGBTQ+ issues. He made a number of anti-trans moves in his first term. But this time, he really campaigned on anti-trans issues, and he’s made them a central part of his administration.”
According to Vox, those policies include limiting healthcare access for transgender youth, revoking federal funding for medical providers that offer gender-related care, reinstating the transgender military ban, and restricting passport issuance for transgender individuals.
Meanwhile, new data suggests a measurable decline in transgender identification among younger Americans. A report from the Centre for Heterodox Social Science found that “trans identification is in free fall” among Gen Z since 2023.
Breitbart News’s Katherine Hamilton summarized the report, authored by Professor Eric Kaufmann, director of the Centre and professor of politics at the University of Buckingham. Kaufmann analyzed multiple large-scale surveys, including data from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) and institutions such as Andover Phillips Academy and Brown University.
Kaufmann wrote:
“Whether trans and queer identities will drop to 2010 levels is an open question. But the fact that both have declined sharply in just two years is a startling and unanticipated post-progressive development that the education and media establishments will be reluctant to acknowledge.”
