Under London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the city appears to be sliding into a two-tier justice system — one that shields anti-Semites while punishing Jewish citizens for simply existing in public.

In August, a British lawyer serving as an independent legal observer at a pro-Palestine protest outside the Israeli embassy in central London was arrested, handcuffed, and detained for nearly ten hours. His alleged offense? Wearing a Star of David.

Attorney Marina Medvin shared the story on X, writing: “A Jewish lawyer wearing a Star of David was arrested after British police claimed the Jewish necklace had ‘antagonized’ pro-Palestine protesters.”

According to the lawyer’s account, officers restrained him with his hands behind his back, placed him in a police vehicle, and held him for questioning. Despite documenting roughly 30 instances of criminal behavior by protesters that day, none of those individuals were arrested. Only the Jewish observer ended up in custody.

The Metropolitan Police later claimed the arrest was unrelated to the Star of David, insisting that the man had “repeatedly breached” instructions meant to keep opposing protest groups separated. But their explanation did little to quell growing outrage over what many see as selective enforcement of the law.

As The Geller Report noted, the symbolism is chilling: the same emblem that once marked Jews for persecution in Europe now marks them for arrest in England.

Police officials defend these actions as “keeping the peace.” In reality, critics say it’s a surrender — a state more afraid of offending offenders than protecting victims. “Antagonizing” has become the new standard for arrest. Translation: if a mob hates you enough, your rights disappear.

The modern policing lexicon — “community sensitivity,” “tensions are high,” “proportionate response” — all amount to one thing: abandoning equal justice under the law. Protesters are free to chant “From the river to the sea,” wave Hamas flags, and call for “Globalizing the Intifada.” But a Jew wearing a religious symbol is treated as a public-order threat.

This is not an isolated incident. In 2024, during another pro-Palestine march, video captured an officer blocking the path of Gideon Falter, a Jewish man wearing a kippah, as he tried to leave the area. “At the moment, sir, you are quite openly Jewish,” the officer told him. “This is a pro-Palestinian march. I’m not accusing you of anything, but I’m worried about the reaction to your presence.”

When Falter asked if he would be arrested for staying, the officer replied that his “presence was antagonizing a large group of people.”

This is what London has become under radical leadership— a city where the right to exist as a Jew in public depends on whether the crowd approves.
