Man Accused of Punching Father After Being Told to Remove Prostitute from Home
A Coral Springs man is facing domestic violence charges after allegedly striking his father during a dispute that began when the father asked a woman his son had brought home to leave.
According to a Coral Springs Police report, officers responded to a family residence on September 27, where the victim told authorities that his son, 32-year-old Jone Ribeiro, had spent the day drinking with a woman he described as a prostitute.
When the father asked the woman to leave, she complied. However, Ribeiro reportedly became enraged afterward, shouting threats and telling his father he would “beat his ass.” Standing just a few feet away, he allegedly refused to calm down or leave the room.
The father said he placed a hand on Ribeiro’s shoulder in an effort to escort him out, at which point Ribeiro allegedly punched him in the face, splitting his lip. The father pushed his son away and called 911.
Police arriving at the scene noted the victim’s injury and described him as “visibly shaken.” Statements from the victim’s wife and daughter supported his account, with the daughter saying she overheard Ribeiro making death threats.
Ribeiro, who appeared intoxicated during questioning, admitted his father was upset about the woman but denied assaulting him. He was arrested and taken to the Broward County Main Jail, later posting a $2,000 bond for release.
