A Kansas woman whose terrifying screams for help were captured on a doorbell camera during what appeared to be an abduction has been found safe, authorities confirmed.

According to the Wichita Police Department, officers received a call around 3 p.m. on Tuesday from a woman claiming to be the person seen in the viral video. In the footage, a man is seen carrying her down the street outside a Wichita home as she screams his name and pleads for help.

Police met with the caller and brought her to City Hall for an interview. She was identified as a 35-year-old local resident who lives in the same area where the incident was recorded around 2 a.m. Sunday. Investigators believe the case stems from a domestic violence situation involving her boyfriend. Authorities said she did not suffer any serious injuries.

The alarming video first came to light when a homeowner reviewed their doorbell footage and alerted police. On Monday, officers released the video publicly, asking for help identifying the individuals involved.

“Our main concern is the safety and welfare of the woman seen in that video,” Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said in an appeal earlier Tuesday. Police also offered a $2,000 reward for information that could help locate the woman and requested assistance from regional and federal partners.

The department later thanked the public for sharing the footage widely. “We believe the attention this case received prompted the woman to reach out to us,” police said in a statement.

Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains active and will be presented to the appropriate attorney’s office for possible charges.
