A Brooklyn discount store worker was stabbed Sunday while trying to stop a shoplifting attempt.

The 30-year-old employee, whose name was not released, was working at the Family Dollar on Flatlands Avenue in East New York around 11:48 a.m. when the incident occurred, according to police and sources.

She was taken by ambulance to Brookdale Hospital and is listed in stable condition. The store remained closed Sunday afternoon, with a handwritten sign in the window explaining it would reopen Monday.

“Due to an earlier incident, we will remain closed for the rest of today,” the sign read. “We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.”

No arrests have been made, and police continue to investigate.

The stabbing follows a recent string of violent encounters involving store workers and would-be thieves. Less than a week ago, a 64-year-old market employee in Columbus Circle died after a scuffle over a six-pack of Heineken. In July, a Times Square CVS clerk fatally stabbed a man who attacked him during a theft attempt. Brooklyn deli workers were also involved in a deadly altercation last month with a neighborhood troublemaker, according to authorities.
