Arby's "known for the meats" is dropping "a first-of-its-kind product: steak nuggets."

Arby’s is rolling out what it calls a “first-of-its-kind” menu item across the country — steak nuggets. The fast-food chain describes the new addition as a “premium protein product” and “a whole new way to nugget,” offering a new twist on one of America’s favorite comfort foods.

After a successful test run earlier this year, Arby’s will make the steak nuggets available nationwide for a limited time starting Monday, according to USA Today. The bite-sized, hand-cut pieces of steak come in five- or nine-piece servings and are paired with Hickory BBQ sauce for dipping. Customers can also order them on sandwiches or atop Arby’s mac-and-cheese in the new “Steak Nugget Bowl.”

“Who doesn’t love tender and savory steak? But, until now, it’s been inconvenient to eat, particularly on the go,” said Jeff Baker, Arby’s chief marketing officer. “No knife needed, fork optional.”

The brand known for the meats has officially debuted a first-of-its-kind product: Steak Nuggets.

Early reviews of the new item have been mixed. Michael Palan of The Takeout described the nuggets as “soft and juicy” on the outside but “dry and stringy” inside. His batch was delivered, and he noted they might taste better fresh from an Arby’s location. He said the smell was “somewhere between fresh beef jerky and the spare ribs one orders up at a Chinese restaurant.”

Bailey Fink of Allrecipes offered a more favorable take, saying the nuggets “blew me away.” She described them as “incredibly tender, juicy, and flavorful,” comparing them to “steak tips, or even burnt ends.”

Meanwhile, food influencer Markie Devo shared on Instagram that when the steak nuggets were tested in select markets back in May, “most people who tried them liked them,” though some humorously dubbed them “squirrel elbows” or “Moose Knuckles.”
