Portland, Oregon—In a city known for unconventional protests, local activists have announced an “emergency” naked bike ride to protest President Trump and ICE. Traditionally a summer event, the ride draws attention for its unusual combination of nudity and political messaging—but now it’s being framed as a timely response to federal intervention in Portland.
The World Naked Bike Ride, which has been an annual fixture in Portland for years, attracts thousands of participants. Oregon Live reports that nearly 6,000 nude or partially nude cyclists have joined previous rides. The protest typically promotes awareness of oil dependency, cyclist safety, and body freedom.

This week, a coalition including Naked Hearts PDX and a splinter group from the World Naked Bike Ride issued a call for an impromptu ride. The new focus is opposition to the Trump Administration’s decision to send 200 federalized National Guard troops to the city. Organizers hope the “emergency” nature of the ride will bring in both longtime participants and a fresh group of protesters.
If you live in or near Portland… don’t buy a used bike.
And if you do, use disinfectant. Lots and lots of disinfectant.
And maybe hot water too, for good measure
Or at least replace the seat. https://t.co/ydCx6UZrNb

Veteran riders offer practical advice for newcomers: nudity is optional. Some participants ride completely nude, while others opt for body paint, swimsuits, or underwear. The overriding goal is personal comfort and confidence.
A brief video report accompanying the announcement underscores the ride’s chaotic, colorful, and sometimes humorous reputation. For those unfamiliar with Portland’s protest culture, it’s a reminder that the city often blends activism with spectacle.
