Secret Service Agent Fell Asleep on the Job at United Nations General Assembly – And Left His Fully Automatic Rifle Unattended (PHOTOS)

Multiple security incidents occurred during last week’s United Nations General Assembly in New York City, raising concerns about safety protocols and potential misconduct.

One of the most serious incidents involved a U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officer assigned to security duties at the UN. According to multiple law enforcement sources, the officer was seen asleep while on post and allegedly left his semi-automatic rifle — believed to be an SR16 — unattended while taking a bathroom break.

The officer, described as an African American male, was witnessed by New York Police Department officers, who reportedly documented the behavior with photographs and reported it to the multi-agency command center overseeing UN security operations.

Following the incident, a Secret Service spokesperson confirmed that the officer was immediately relieved of duty, sent back to Washington, D.C., and placed on administrative leave pending review. The agency released a statement emphasizing its strict standards of professionalism and promising disciplinary action for violations.

This was not the only security issue reported. On Thursday, a Health and Human Services (HHS) official serving under President Trump’s administration was stalked, harassed, and physically assaulted inside the UN complex. According to Fox News, the official was followed into a restroom by a “deranged leftist,” who verbally abused and assaulted him before being arrested. It remains unclear how the individual bypassed multiple layers of security to reach the official.

In another incident, President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump encountered what the White House has described as a deliberate security breach involving an escalator inside the UN building. The First Lady stepped onto the left escalator first, followed by the President, when the escalator suddenly stopped, while the adjacent one continued running. Both the President and First Lady continued by walking up the halted escalator with their security detail.

The White House called for a full investigation, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt warning that if UN staff intentionally stopped the escalator, those responsible should be fired and investigated. President Trump later stated that any UN staffers involved should face jail time and demanded inquiries into what he described as three “very sinister events” that unfolded during the week.

These incidents have fueled ongoing concerns about the safety and integrity of security operations at one of the most high-profile diplomatic gatherings in the world.
