NYC teens caught on camera waving massive machetes in street after stabbing victim

Two teenagers were caught on camera brandishing large machetes on a Brooklyn street in broad daylight, authorities said, after allegedly stabbing one man and threatening another.
Video posted by the Boro Park Shomrim volunteer patrol shows a boy in a red hoodie carrying a machete at his side around 5:10 p.m. Monday. He is later joined by a larger group at 43rd Street and New Utrecht Avenue in Borough Park. Another teen wearing a black hoodie is also seen carrying a machete. The footage shows the teens running into the street, apparently after being spotted by Shomrim members.
Police say that during a dispute, one of the teens stabbed an 18-year-old man in the back and slashed him on the hip. The 14- and 15-year-old boys also allegedly threatened a 26-year-old man with a machete near 45th Street and Fort Hamilton Parkway.
NYPD officers, working with Shomrim members, eventually caught the teens. Footage shows officers cuffing the boy in red on the ground. Both were arrested and face charges including gang assault, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
“Thanks to their rapid action, a machete was recovered, and two teenagers were arrested,” Shomrim said of its members.
The 18-year-old victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center and is listed in stable condition, police said.
