A Ryanair flight from London to Alicante was forced to make an emergency landing in Toulouse after a drunken passenger allegedly tried to open an emergency exit mid-flight.
Viral video footage shows French police dragging 36-year-old British passenger Daniel Ashley-Laws off the plane, with one officer twisting his ear to gain control as he resisted. Other passengers could be heard cheering as he was removed.
Ashley-Laws, a father and social media user who also goes by “Dan Rizz,” had reportedly consumed large amounts of duty-free alcohol and was so intoxicated that police said it took hours before he was sober enough to speak with them.
“He could barely stand up, and his blood alcohol level was extremely high,” a police source told The Sun, describing the ordeal as “terrifying for everybody else on the flight.”
The Ryanair jet was diverted after the pilot determined there was no other option, according to officials.

Ashley-Laws had been traveling for a bachelor party with four friends — one of whom claimed to be his son — who were also escorted off the aircraft. It remains unclear if they will face charges.
After the incident, Ashley-Laws appeared to mock his arrest by posting a photo on social media of two men tugging at his ear in the Spanish resort town of Benidorm.
Ryanair confirmed the diversion, saying:
“Ryanair has a zero-tolerance policy for unacceptable passenger behavior and will continue to take strict measures to address it, ensuring all passengers and crew have a smooth and enjoyable journey without unnecessary disruption.”
