Why Do So Many Men Pose As Women Online?

I was on a forum when I got into an argument about the horrible dates I’ve had before getting married. One “girl” kept insisting that my bad dates were my own fault, that letting men slide into my DMs on Instagram was somehow a brilliant life strategy, and that women should just “lower their standards” a little.
Then she started talking about “Chad” like he was her personal hero, and that’s when it clicked—this wasn’t a girl at all. It was a guy playing dress-up on the internet. I called him out, and poof—the account vanished within five minutes, like he’d been Thanos-snapped out of existence.
After I cooled down, I had to wonder: why are there so many guys pretending to be women online? Do they get frequent flyer miles for catfishing? Do they think this is some sort of community service?
I like to think I’m not the only one who’s noticed this circus act. And let’s be honest—guys who do this aren’t just weird; they’re downright unhinged.
What do you think of that?
