‘Bored’ motorist purposely rams car into police cruiser during traffic stop: ‘I hate cops’

An Illinois driver deliberately slammed his car into the back of a police SUV during a traffic stop, later telling officers he did it on purpose because he was “bored” and “hates cops.”

Bodycam footage released by Fairview Heights police shows an officer stepping out of his cruiser during a Wednesday stop when 28-year-old Keajion L. Jennings drove his 2018 Chevrolet Camaro directly into the rear of the patrol vehicle. The officer narrowly avoided being crushed between the two cars.

Seconds after the crash, Jennings emerged from his wrecked car and strangely asked, “What happened?” He then told the officer, “I need a new car,” before being directed to sit on the sidewalk and wait for paramedics.

Jennings admitted on camera that he had been drinking and had taken “weed pills.” Moments later, he openly confessed: “I did that on purpose.” When the officer asked why, Jennings responded, “I was bored. I hate cops.”

Backup officers quickly arrived, handcuffed Jennings, and took him into custody. No one was injured in the crash, and the two people in the car originally stopped by police were unharmed, leaving with only a warning for expired tags.

"I hate cops," Jennings later added to his reasoning for driving into the officer's SUV as backup arrived on the scene.
Jennings later added to his reasoning for driving into the officer’s SUV that he hated cops.

According to authorities, Jennings caused more than $10,000 in damage to the squad car. He now faces multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal damage to government property

  • Two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon

  • Aggravated battery with a motor vehicle

The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking to keep Jennings detained before trial, calling him a danger to the community. The Illinois State Police are leading the investigation.
