Video shows twin boys allegedly strapped to chairs at South Loop child care center
CHICAGO — Parents in the South Loop are speaking out after claiming their twin boys were strapped to chairs for extended periods at a local daycare.
Joshua Rudolfi says he and his partner enrolled their sons at Ivy Garden Learning Center in June, trusting it would provide a safe and nurturing environment. That trust was shaken during a virtual meeting with one of the boys’ teachers. What began as a discussion about a tantrum reportedly turned into a disturbing revelation.
“For three months, the vast majority of kids were being strapped to chairs,” Rudolfi told WGN-TV. He said the teacher mentioned that one of his twins managed to escape from what staff referred to as a “time-out chair.” Concerned, Rudolfi requested surveillance footage from the classroom.
The video, he said, showed one of his sons buckled in a chair for 25 minutes, while his other son was strapped in for 17 minutes before being left unattended as he struggled to get out.
