An American Airlines flight en route from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, to Las Vegas descended into chaos when a passenger allegedly assaulted a flight attendant and had to be forcibly restrained with duct tape and zip ties.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Nevada, the incident occurred during a layover leg of the trip from Charlotte to Las Vegas. The passenger, identified as Ketty Dilone, was reportedly behaving disruptively—yelling in the aisle and verbally threatening several crew members—before the situation escalated.
Dilone allegedly kicked a flight attendant, causing them to fall. At that point, crew members and passengers restrained her in her seat using duct tape around her torso and legs, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Upon landing at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department boarded the aircraft and took Dilone into custody.
She has been charged with interfering with a flight crew and assault—offenses that could result in up to 20 years in prison if convicted. A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for October 1.
American Airlines has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
