Lemon, who was dismissed from CNN in 2023 after remarks about Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley, appeared on Morgan’s program expecting a conversation centered on free speech and recent events surrounding conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Instead, the conversation quickly shifted to Lemon’s own departure from CNN and the now-infamous clip where he commented on when women are “in their prime.”
Morgan aired the original CNN segment, where Lemon stated that women are considered to be in their prime during their “20s, 30s, and maybe 40s,” referencing Google as his source. When asked if he regretted the statement, Lemon grew visibly frustrated, accusing Morgan of ambushing him by bringing up topics that, according to Lemon, were not disclosed beforehand.

“You said you wanted to talk about freedom of speech and Charlie Kirk,” Lemon said, expressing that he felt misled by Morgan’s team. “Had I known we were going to talk about CNN and that clip, I might not have accepted the interview.”
Morgan pushed back, asserting that Lemon himself had raised the subject of cancel culture, which naturally led to discussing the circumstances of his exit from CNN. “You said what you’re going to say. I think it’s perfectly reasonable,” Morgan responded. The exchange quickly escalated, with both men interrupting each other, leading to Morgan bluntly telling Lemon he was “being a complete d*ck.”
