A Florida man faces multiple charges after allegedly chasing one of his childhood friends while the victim was test-driving a motorcycle, shooting at him and trying to force him off the road with his Jeep Cherokee, according to police.
Isaiah MacDonald, 23, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, firing a weapon from a vehicle, and drug possession. Police say they found marijuana, heroin, and ammunition inside MacDonald’s Jeep following the incident.
The confrontation happened Sunday afternoon in Astor. The victim told deputies he was test-driving the motorcycle when MacDonald began following him aggressively. Fearing for his life, the victim tried to evade MacDonald by speeding and making several turns, even briefly entering oncoming traffic.
During the chase, MacDonald reportedly fired shots at the victim’s motorcycle, with one bullet fired near the intersection of 445A and Astor Cutoff Road. The victim described the gun as a dark-colored pistol resembling a Glock.
After the incident, the victim received a text from MacDonald saying, “When’s a good time to come over?” but MacDonald later denied involvement when confronted.
The victim’s mother tracked MacDonald down at his home and alerted police. He was later found at a nearby gas station, where deputies discovered drugs, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle during a search.
A witness reportedly confirmed MacDonald was the Jeep driver and captured part of the incident on a security camera. MacDonald was arrested, booked at Lake County Detention Center, and released on bond Monday. He awaits his next court date.
