Florida man accused of hurling kids over fence after crash
FORT MYERS, Fla. (CBS12) — A Florida man’s reckless effort to avoid arrest led to a crash and a startling act involving three children, deputies reported.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said Larry Rada Jr. was seen speeding along San Carlos Boulevard on Saturday afternoon.
When a deputy attempted to pull him over, Rada reportedly spun his vehicle in a full circle around the patrol car before speeding away.
Deputies chose not to pursue him due to safety reasons. However, Rada later crashed his car with three children inside. Authorities say he then threw the children over a nearly six-foot fence before jumping over himself.
All three children were taken to a hospital for evaluation and have since been released, according to WBBH.
Rada was arrested and charged with three counts of child neglect. Officials indicated that additional charges, including hit-and-run and fleeing, may be filed.
