Breaking: HERE HE IS! Suspect in Charlie Kirk Assassination Identified as 22-Year-Old Utah Resident Tyler Robinson (PHOTOS)
A suspect in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk was reportedly identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson of Utah, according to law enforcement sources cited by The New York Post. President Donald Trump confirmed Friday morning that the suspect had been turned in by his own father.
Kirk, 31, founder of Turning Point USA and a prominent supporter of Trump, was shot and killed during a campus speaking event on Wednesday. The incident sparked national outrage and triggered an intensive manhunt.
According to reports, Robinson’s father contacted police through a minister with ties to law enforcement. Trump addressed the development during an appearance on Fox & Friends, stating, “I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him.” He added, “I hope he’s going to be found guilty and I hope he gets the death penalty. What he did — Charlie Kirk was the finest person and he didn’t deserve this.”
The gunman is said to have used a single, precise shot from a Mauser .30-06 bolt-action rifle, reportedly imported. The shot struck Kirk in the neck while he was speaking at his “Prove Me Wrong” event, which drew thousands of students.
Following the shooting, the suspect allegedly climbed down from a rooftop position, concealed the weapon in a towel, and abandoned it in a wooded area nearby. Authorities say they recovered the rifle, along with a palm print and shoe prints, which helped lead to the suspect’s identification.
Robinson is described as a slim, dark-haired young man, dressed in a black long-sleeved shirt, baseball cap, sunglasses, and Converse sneakers—an outfit noted by investigators as distinctive. He reportedly blended in with the university crowd and appeared familiar with the campus, suggesting possible prior surveillance of the site.
Officials have not released further information about Robinson’s background or possible motive. His level of proficiency with the rifle has raised questions about whether he has formal weapons training, though no such experience has been confirmed.
