HORROR: Manhunt Underway For “Armed” Career Criminal Accused of Tying Up, Fatally Stabbing and Torching Elderly Couple in New York City

A citywide manhunt is currently underway for a man accused of the brutal killing of an elderly couple in Queens, New York. Authorities say the suspect, 42-year-old Jamel McGriff, is considered armed and dangerous and has a lengthy criminal history spanning three decades.

McGriff is wanted in connection with the deaths of 78-year-old Maureen Olton and 76-year-old Frank Thomas Olton, who were killed inside their Bellerose home early Monday morning. The victims were the parents of a New York City Fire Department paramedic, according to The New York Post.

Investigators believe McGriff gained entry to the home by asking to charge his phone. He allegedly remained inside for over five hours, during which time the couple was restrained and fatally attacked. Their home was later set on fire.

Frank Olton was found in the basement, bound to a pole and suffering from multiple stab wounds. His wife, Maureen, was discovered deceased on the first floor.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows McGriff leaving the scene shortly after the fire began.

Police say Jamel McGriff should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach and call 911 immediately.

Police say McGriff has an extensive and violent criminal record, including past arrests for armed robbery, sexual assault at knifepoint, and burglary. He is also a registered sex offender who has failed to comply with registration requirements and violated parole.

Despite a recent arrest for allegedly robbing a Verizon store employee with what turned out to be a fake firearm, McGriff was not held in custody.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described McGriff’s method as “going door to door, asking for help until he gains entry.” She emphasized that law enforcement agencies, including the Regional Fugitive Task Force, are working tirelessly to locate him.

“We appreciate the public’s and the media’s assistance,” Tisch said in a press briefing on Tuesday.

Anyone with information on McGriff’s whereabouts is urged to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
