Fire crews free Frito-Lay employee from corn silo after 40-foot fall

DENVER — A Frito-Lay employee was safely rescued by the Denver Fire Department on Monday after falling into a corn silo at the company’s Denver facility.
According to fire officials, the employee fell approximately 40 feet into the silo, landing on the corn stored inside the grain elevator. The incident occurred at the Frito-Lay plant located at 11645 E. 37th Avenue.
Despite the significant fall, no injuries were reported. Denver Fire crews conducted a confined space rescue to safely extract the employee, who was then evaluated on-site as a precaution.
PepsiCo, the parent company of Frito-Lay, issued a statement following the incident:
“We are aware of an incident involving one of our employees earlier today at our Denver Frito-Lay facility. The employee received prompt medical attention for minor injuries and is expected to be okay. Safety is our top priority, and we are reviewing the incident in line with our standard protocols. The incident did not impact our operations or products.”
The fire department confirmed that the rescue was completed without complications.
