Several urgent care employees in California have been fired after a TikTok video showed them joking about bodily fluids left behind in medical exam rooms, according to KTLA.
The video, which has since been deleted, featured photos taken inside exam rooms at Sansum Clinic in Santa Barbara. Captions included phrases like “Are patients allowed to leave you guys gifts?” and “Guess the substance!” Staff members were seen laughing, pointing, and posing next to suspicious marks on exam tables. The video ended with a group photo and the message: “Make sure to leave your healthcare workers sweet gifts like these.”

Sutter Health, which operates the clinic, condemned the video in a statement reported by the Los Angeles Times. “This unacceptable behavior is an outright violation of our policies, shows a lack of respect for our patients and will not be tolerated,” the company said. While they didn’t specify how many workers were involved, they confirmed all participating employees were terminated. The video was reportedly posted by a former employee who had left months earlier.

Although the original post was removed, screenshots and clips were widely shared on platforms like Reddit, Instagram, and X, drawing heavy criticism. Many online users called the content “dehumanizing,” “unprofessional,” and “unethical.”
KTLA noted that patients concerned about privacy violations can file complaints with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights.
