US to Sell Ukraine Arms Totaling 5M State Department announces deal for extended-range missiles

The Trump administration has approved a major arms deal worth $825 million to Ukraine, aimed at strengthening the country’s defense capabilities amid ongoing hostilities with Russia. The package includes long-range missiles and advanced navigation equipment, the State Department announced Thursday.

According to the Associated Press, the deal will supply Ukraine with 3,350 Extended-Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles and an equal number of GPS navigation units. The sale also includes spare parts, components, training, and technical support.

The purchase will be financed through a combination of U.S. foreign military funding and contributions from NATO allies Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.

In a statement, the State Department said the sale “supports the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe.”

The announcement comes as diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia remain stalled. Despite President Trump’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska—where he pushed for a negotiated resolution—Russia continues to intensify its military actions against Ukraine, drawing widespread international condemnation.

This arms deal follows two additional proposed U.S. military sales to Ukraine announced in July. One, valued at $322 million, is intended to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense and provide armored combat vehicles. The other, worth $330 million, will support air defense systems and the maintenance and repair of self-propelled artillery vehicles.
