Erik Menendez’s Wife: Parole Hearing Was ‘Complete Setup’

Erik Menendez’s bid for parole was denied this week in California, a decision that has deeply disappointed his family. His wife, Tammi Menendez—who married Erik in 1999—criticized the process, calling Thursday’s parole hearing “a complete setup” on social media platform X. “Erik never stood a chance,” she added, according to People.

Tammi also responded to criticism from Robert Barton, commissioner of the state’s parole board, who claimed Erik had not been a “model prisoner.” She defended her husband’s conduct behind bars, stating he hasn’t had any infractions since 2011, aside from being found with a cell phone. “To the media reporting otherwise: please get the facts straight!” she wrote in another post.

Talia Menendez, Tammi’s daughter and Erik’s stepdaughter, also voiced her frustration online. In a series of Instagram posts, she criticized the parole board, the media, and the broader incarceration system. “How is my dad a threat to society!” she wrote passionately, adding that the rejection feels like a continuation of decades of pain for their family. She dismissed the suggestion that Erik will have another chance at parole in three years, saying it offers little comfort.
