“FREE TINA PETERS” – Trump Calls for Release of “Tortured” Former County Election Clerk: “If She is Not Released, I am Going to Take Harsh Measures!!!”

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday publicly called for the release of Tina Peters, the former Mesa County Clerk who was sentenced to nine years in prison in 2024 after being found guilty of breaching Colorado’s election system and leaking sensitive information, including passwords related to Dominion Voting Systems.

“If she is not released, I am going to take harsh measures,” Trump said in a statement directed at Colorado Secretary of State Jenna Griswold, a Democrat. He did not elaborate on what those “measures” would entail.

Peters, a vocal critic of the 2020 election process, was convicted after she accessed and distributed Dominion voting machine data without authorization. Prosecutors argued the act compromised election security and violated multiple state laws. However, Peters has maintained that her actions were part of an effort to expose what she alleges was widespread election fraud—a claim that has not been substantiated in court.

Her legal team has filed an appeal in federal court, claiming that her imprisonment violates her First Amendment rights and constitutes political persecution. The appeal also argues that Peters, who is in poor health, should be released pending further review.

The trial judge, Matthew Barrett, reportedly cited Peters’ ongoing political commentary as a factor in denying her bond request, a move her supporters claim is evidence of judicial overreach.

In a statement shared through The Gateway Pundit, Trump described Peters as “a brave and innocent Patriot” and repeated unfounded claims of election fraud. “She did nothing wrong, except catching the Democrats cheat in the Election. She is an old woman, and very sick,” he wrote.

Trump also renewed his criticism of electronic voting systems, advocating for a return to paper ballots and the elimination of mail-in voting. He described voting machines as “Highly Inaccurate, Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial.”

It remains unclear what actions, if any, Trump plans to take in response to Peters’ continued incarceration.

This is a developing story.
