Social media and mental health

Social media use allows people to connect with others and entertain themselves, but research has shown that endless scrolling takes a toll on users’ mental health.

Studies cited in the lawsuit highlight correlations between excessive use of social media and mental health conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Depression

  • Sleep disturbances
  • Self-harm
  • Suicidal thoughts and actions

Parents have also reported that their children experienced increased social isolation, bullying and pressures related to unrealistic body expectations while using these platforms.
