This 5-Ingredient Pie Recipe Is a Bake Sale Legend That Sells Out in Minutes

By Patricia Kaowthumrong

Some desserts are just magical. You bring them to a potluck, backyard barbecue, or bake sale, and suddenly, everyone’s asking for the recipe. Among our favorite crowd-pleasers is Jim’s Pineapple Cheese Pie, a five-ingredient, no-bake dessert submitted by Allrecipes community member James R Bray Sr (aka “Jim,” I assume). The retro recipe is so good, one reviewer says individual-sized versions of the pie sold out within minutes at a bake sale.

“Everyone loved them,” Stralitziaregina says. “I used the small tiny one serving pie crusts so there were a lot of pies. Unfortunately they all sold out in just a few minutes. If doing this for a bake sale, make a lot!”

You’ll understand why the pineapple-cheesecake-like dessert—a light and fruity filling tucked in the pie crust of your choice—was such a hit for Stralitziaregina after just one bite. It’s the type of nostalgia-conjuring treat that tastes like summer sunshine or your favorite beach vacation. Another bonus? The recipe is wildly easy to make. “You can use any ready-to-serve pie crust in this no-bake recipe,” says James R Bray Sr.

How to Make Jim’s Pineapple Cheese Pie

It all comes together in just 20 minutes.

  • Gather your five simple ingredients. The recipe calls for one can of crushed pineapple with juice, one package of pineapple Jell-O, one container of whipped cream cheese, one container of thawed frozen whipped topping, and one pie crust.
  • Prepare the filling. Drain the juice from the canned pineapple into a microwave-safe bowl (reserve the fruit) and warm the liquid in the microwave for one minute. Stir in the Jell-O. Beat the cream cheese and the whipped topping, add in the crushed pineapple, then stir in the gelatin mixture until silky and smooth.
  • Pour and chill. Pour the filling into your shell, then put the pie in the refrigerator. The filling will set in four to five hours.
  • Try the recipe with a ready-to-serve graham cracker or a shortbread crust or make your own pie shell—whatever you like best. “Loved it!” says reviewer Kimo. “Wonderful dessert for summer. I used a graham cracker crust though and it was delicious!”
