AITA for telling a lady to get her dog out of the restaurant because it freaked my 3 year old daughter out.
My family (wife and 2 kids) and I intended to go out to breakfast this past weekend. We walk in and there is a big golden retriever at the hostess stand. I walked in holding my 3 year old daughters hand. Upon seeing the dog she started freaking out and crying, I picked her up. Her experiences with dogs have not been kind so she has a fear of them.
My daughter was crying and the dog started barking at her, which didn’t help the situation. All this was in the first 30 seconds of entering the restaurant. I asked the lady to take her dog outside. She ignored me. I ask the hostess (who was probably an 18 year old girl), if she was going to do anything about it. She froze and could tell she was no help. I wasn’t mad at her, the dog owner put her in a bad situation.
I turn back to the owner and ask if she is going to do anything about her dog? The owner snapped at me telling me to mind my own business and told me to shut my kid up. With some attitude I said, “sorry, my daughter is scared of your dog”. I told her she is being completely unreasonable and her dogs barking made things worse. She called me an asshole and turned her back to me. At that time the hostess took them to their table (indoors). My wife called her an inconsiderate bitch and she told us to fuck off. We left and went home for breakfast. AITA?
