Dear Mr. Fixit

I need ideas for a dilemma!

We built this TV/Fireplace unit (going to add shelves behind for storing sofa blankets and etc).

I need help figuring out what to do when we pull the TV out and push it back in. The sides of the TV are gouging the edges of the wall as we misjudged the measurements on the sides and made it shorter than it should be ( there is 1/4 inch on each side) How do I protect the edges from being gouged?

Also we misjudged the height of where to put the TV mount and are off by inches. bottom is 3/4 inch and top 1 1/8 inch, will have to correct that and move the mount up by inches.

I thought of building a frame around the TV so when we push it back in and that way we wont put our fingers on the TV screen. The little pencil marks are where the frame should go to so its even with the fireplace frame. If I do a frame the problem is, I cant find 2 inch wide wood boards, and

it will still gouge and only hide the problem.

Any ideas?

thank you in advance

P.S Sorry if my spelling is not correct or the measurements sound weird.
