In Daytona Beach, Florida, police reported an incident where a man allegedly attacked his friend with a samurai sword after the friend refused to give him an Xbox. Walter Grimes, 25, is now wanted for arrest, and police caution that he might be armed with a knife despite finding a sword at the scene.

According to documents viewed by Law&Crime, the victim, who is now homeless, informed the police that Grimes became upset about having to carry his belongings. Grimes visited the victim’s place and, while sitting on the couch, asked for the Xbox. When the victim declined, Grimes allegedly grabbed a nearby samurai sword and struck him on the left side of the face, upper shoulder, and right knuckle.

During the altercation, Grimes did not make any threatening statements, and he left the scene in an unknown direction. A neighbor who witnessed the incident reported hearing screams and seeing the victim covered in blood, claiming that “Walter stabbed me.”

Medical staff determined that the injuries were not life-threatening, with lacerations to the left cheek, left shoulder, and right knuckle. Police discovered a black and white samurai sword at the scene, and blood covered the apartment entrance and living room carpet.

Grimes is now charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Described as an African American, standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with brown eyes and black hair, Grimes has a history of prior charges, including battery and criminal mischief. Notably, a previous case involving an altercation with his husband was dropped in March 2021 as part of a deferred prosecution agreement. The victim in this recent case is identified as a different man, invoking Marsy’s law for privacy, but clarifying that he and Grimes were not romantically involved or cohabitating.
