Roseanne Barr Says Lisa Marie Presley Spoke Candidly About Marriage to Michael Jackson

Comedian Roseanne Barr is sharing details about conversations she says she had with the late Lisa Marie Presley, including the singer-songwriter’s private thoughts about her marriage to pop superstar Michael Jackson.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Barr reflected on several famous friendships from her years in entertainment and singled out Presley as one of her favorites. Barr said the daughter of Elvis Presley was unusually open about her personal life and relationships.

“The best person that I ran around with was Lisa Marie Presley,” Barr said, recalling the friendship.

Barr claimed Presley spoke positively about Jackson during private conversations and described him as “the best lay she ever had.” When challenged by the interviewer, Barr stood by the account, saying Presley had spoken candidly about their relationship and that she believed what her friend told her.

According to Barr, Presley told her Jackson “had it going on” and knew how to say “all the things girls want to hear.”

Jackson and Presley married in May 1994, creating one of the most talked-about celebrity pairings of the decade. At the time, Jackson was one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world, while Presley was the only child of rock-and-roll icon Elvis Presley. Their relationship generated intense media scrutiny from its earliest days, with many observers questioning whether the marriage was genuine or a response to the controversies surrounding Jackson at the time.

The couple publicly defended their relationship, including a joint television interview and several high-profile appearances. Despite the attention, the marriage lasted just over two years before Presley filed for divorce in 1996.

Interest in the relationship has remained strong years after both stars’ deaths. In her posthumous memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, published in 2024, Presley described intimate details of her early relationship with Jackson and wrote about the deep connection they shared despite the challenges surrounding their marriage. She also recounted Jackson telling her early in their romance that he was still a virgin.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009, at age 50. Presley died on Jan. 12, 2023, at age 54. Their brief marriage continues to fascinate fans and pop culture observers more than three decades after the couple first stunned the entertainment world by tying the knot.

Barr’s comments surfaced as she promotes her new sitcom, Meemaw: A Modern Day Fable, which stars Randy Quaid, Drea de Matteo and Omar Gooding alongside the comedian. Barr has described the series as a comedy centered on a patriotic Texas grandmother who serves as the matriarch of a mixed-race prepper family. [ew.com]
