Texas Bakery Draws Fire After Calling MAGA ‘A Cult’ in July 4 Social Media Rant

A Texas bakery is facing a wave of criticism after posting a profanity-filled Independence Day message declaring it was too “embarrassed, afraid, and disappointed” to celebrate America.

Hive Bakery, located in Flower Mound, posted on Facebook July 3 that it would not be observing the Fourth of July, blaming what it described as the country’s decline under the Trump administration.

“We expressed not wanting to celebrate the 4th this year, as we’re embarrassed, afraid, and disappointed in what this country has become,” the bakery wrote.

The post went on to describe the MAGA movement as “a cult of unintelligent, rabid, immoral sycophants,” adding that conservatives who still possess “rational thought” have already left the movement. It also claimed supporters of President Trump wanted to see the bakery “burn to the ground.”

The message concluded with an expletive aimed at what the owners called a “fascist regime,” while expressing hope for what they referred to as an “AOC revolution.”

The comments quickly exploded online, with many promising never to patronize the business again.

One commenter wrote, “I will celebrate this amazing country because it is still a great place to live. If you’re that embarrassed, pack your stuff and leave.”

Another added, “With a post like this, I will never patronize your business, and I’ll make sure my friends and family know exactly how you feel.”

Others were even harsher, with one person writing that they hoped the bakery would burn down—a comment the bakery later highlighted in a video discussing the backlash.

Not everyone disagreed with Hive Bakery’s message. Supporters flooded the comments as well, with one person joking they were tempted to drive 12 hours just to buy pastries in support of the business. Another said they would make the trip if they lived closer, while a Canadian commenter praised the owners for having “balls” to speak their minds.

The bakery continued its protest on Independence Day by displaying iced cookies decorated with upside-down American flags and the words “UNDER DURESS.”

The social media controversy has since spread far beyond Texas, drawing thousands of reactions from people on both sides of the political divide and serving as yet another reminder that, these days, even a neighborhood bakery can become the center of a national political debate.
