Antifa terror cell leader sent to slammer for rest of his life in landmark sentencing

Bursting into headlines Tuesday, Benjamin Song got 100 years behind bars after being found guilty of masterminding a violent assault on an immigration site back in 2025. Leading a militant Antifa faction at the time, his actions triggered widespread chaos, now met with full legal consequence.

On Tuesday, news sources confirmed that the Department of Justice handed down sentences to Song and seven more tied to the July 4, 2025, incident at a Texas ICE site.

That case marked the country’s initial terrorism prosecution targeting alleged Antifa individuals – following former President Donald Trump’s move in September 2025 to classify the left-wing movement as a homegrown terror entity.

One month into spring, a court found all eight guilty because of their part in the violence – Song separately judged guilty of trying to kill someone following nearly two weeks of hearings. Prison time for the rest, aside from Song, will last between three decades and seven, reports CBS News.

That nighttime strike on Independence Day unfolded after dark, when Song – once part of the Marine Corps Reserve – showed up alongside others wearing head-to-toe black clothing, per a statement issued in March by federal prosecutors in northern Texas. Earlier that same day, some from the crew had visited an ICE detention facility protest unarmed and quiet, only to return later under cover of night carrying equipment.

Firing off fireworks toward the building, the Antifa cell arrived armed – eleven guns tucked alongside protective gear, the statement said. Damage spread across vehicles and a small security outpost after their actions unfolded near the site.

A cop arrived at the location, shouting orders at someone linked to Antifa. Suddenly, Song shouted something about rifles – audio captured clearly on a body camera. The moment followed fast: gunfire broke out, hitting the officer in the neck. At that point, prison guards nearby scrambled away, dropping low as shots rang through the air

Nine people stood trial after the protest, facing a total of 65 charges combined – that comes from CBS News. Among those charges: trying to commit murder, helping individuals linked to terrorism, along with various weapon-related counts. Ines Soto, one of the accused, now waits for her court date scheduled July 1.

Hidden among trees, Song stayed off grid following the clash, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation in February. Though others from his group got caught that evening, he slipped away instead. Eleven days passed before officers tracked him down. His last spot? A sympathizer’s place in Dallas – discovered July 15.

The defense argued that the group did not plan for violence that night, and that Antifa is an ideology, not an organization, according to past DCNF reporting.

Earlier this year, leftist groups condemned the convictions and came together to raise money and support for the Antifa members convicted for the July 4 attack.
