A Florida daycare worker is facing multiple charges after allegedly hitting multiple toddlers with a stapler.

Latasha Mullings, 41, is charged with 11 counts of battery and one count of assault, according to Brevard County court records reviewed by PEOPLE.

The director of Mustard Seed Kids in West Melbourne called the police on May 27 and told officers a teacher had struck several students, according to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by PEOPLE.

The alleged conduct came to the director’s attention after a parent reported Mullings had flicked their child in the face. The director, Kaitlin Fletcher, then reviewed seven days of footage from Mullings’ classroom, from May 19 through May 26.

Surveillance footage reviewed by police showed Mullings striking five different students, between the ages of 2 and 4, on 11 different occasions, the affidavit alleges.

Two of the students were allegedly seen in the footage getting hit in the head with a metal stapler; Mullings also allegedly threw her shoe at one of the students but missed.

According to the affidavit, another pupil was allegedly slapped in the face three times. It alleges another student was also struck in the head with a bucket and across the face with a stuffed animal, while another was hit in the hand with a shoe.

When Fletcher confronted Mullings on May 26, the teacher allegedly exclaimed “My babies are gonna miss me,” the affidavit states. She was then fired.

Mullings was scheduled to appear in court on May 29 but the hearing was cancelled, court records show. She made bond prior to her hearing. It is not clear when she will next appear in court, or if she’s entered a plea or retained an attorney who can speak on her behalf.
