A Carnival Cruise Line sign was seen at PortMiami in January 2021 as the company now deals with a recent overboard incident. The cruise line said it has contacted the appropriate authorities, who were expected to board the ship at Catalina Island to investigate. Officials have not yet determined what caused the fall.

The incident comes just a day after a separate case involving Norwegian Cruise Line. A crew member went overboard from the Norwegian Breakaway about 12 miles off Cape Cod while the ship was returning to Boston following a weeklong trip to Bermuda, according to reports. The fall happened around 1:15 a.m. and was captured on security cameras. A large-scale search was launched but has since been called off.
