Shocking footage shows Ukrainian drones hunting down Russian troops sneaking behind enemy lines on horseback
A small group of Russian troops recently attempted a covert advance through Ukrainian territory, but the effort ended abruptly when Ukrainian drones detected and struck them, according to newly circulated footage.
The unit, traveling on horseback in the Donetsk region, appeared to be trying to move quietly and avoid detection, as reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. However, Ukrainian drone surveillance quickly picked up their movement, and operators launched an attack. Video from the drone shows the soldiers scrambling and attempting to flee as the aircraft tracked them. On the operator’s screen, the words “bomb armed” were visible as the strike was carried out.
A Ukrainian drone operator expressed sympathy for the animals involved, saying the situation was difficult to watch, particularly for the horses.
According to Ukrainian forces, this was not the first time Russian troops had tried unconventional methods to pass through the same area. In previous attempts, soldiers used motorcycles and were detected and destroyed. They later switched to four-wheeled vehicles, and then quieter electric versions, but each effort was still identified and stopped.

Drone warfare has become a central element in Ukraine’s defense against the ongoing invasion ordered by Vladimir Putin. Facing a larger opposing force, Ukraine has increasingly relied on advanced drone tactics to counter Russian troop movements and infrastructure.
These operations have had a significant impact. Ukrainian drone strikes are estimated to be costing Russia around $100 million per day in damage to oil facilities. In addition, Ukrainian forces previously managed to position drones deep inside Russian-controlled territory, where they destroyed key bomber aircraft in a major strike.
