Authorities in California say a large shipment of Lego products was recovered after deputies uncovered what appears to be a major cargo theft operation in the Mojave area. Investigators reported finding about $1 million worth of Lego merchandise loaded into two box trucks during the investigation.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, three men were taken into custody after deputies stopped the trucks. During the investigation, authorities also located two freight trailers that had been reported stolen from a shipment traveling from Fort Worth, Texas, to Moreno Valley, California, according to reporting by the New York Times.
The suspects were identified as Jose Lopez, 37, of San Bernardino; Ruben Lopez Flores, 25, of Los Angeles; and Freddy Hernandez Polinar, 35, of Chino. Officials say the men were booked on suspicion of cargo theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and conspiracy.

Deputies later searched the surrounding area and recovered the stolen freight trailers, according to the Los Angeles Times. Investigators say Lego products have become an increasingly attractive target for thieves because collectible sets can be resold easily online and often hold significant value among collectors.
