First Lady Melania Trump addressed reporters at the White House on Thursday, rejecting claims that connect her to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and calling the allegations untrue.
She said rumors suggesting any link between her and Epstein should stop immediately. According to the first lady, she is not one of Epstein’s victims and he had no role in introducing her to President Donald Trump.
Melania Trump explained that she first encountered Epstein at an event in 2000 that she attended with Donald Trump. At the time, she said she had no knowledge of any criminal activity connected to him. She also stated that she never had a friendship with Epstein. While she and Donald Trump occasionally attended gatherings where Epstein was also present, she said that overlapping social circles in places like New York City and Palm Beach made such situations common.
The first lady also pushed back against images and claims about her that have circulated on social media for years. She warned the public not to trust those posts, saying the photos and stories being shared are fabricated.
She emphasized that she had no involvement with Epstein at any time and said she has not been listed as a witness or participant in any investigations tied to his crimes. Melania Trump added that her name does not appear in court records, victim testimony, or FBI interviews related to the case.
Addressing a previously reported email exchange with Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Epstein, she described the message as nothing more than routine correspondence. According to the first lady, her brief and polite response to Maxwell should not be interpreted as anything significant.
Melania Trump also called on Congress to hold a public hearing focused on the survivors of Epstein’s crimes. She said victims should have the opportunity to testify under oath before lawmakers if they choose to do so.
“Every woman who wants to share her story should have the chance to speak publicly,” she said, adding that allowing such testimony would help bring clarity and establish the truth.
While Melania Trump said she wanted to defend her reputation, it was not immediately clear why she chose this moment to address the issue publicly.
