Woman Uses Soap To Write ‘Call 911’ On Hotel Room Window As Other Guests Hear Screams

A South Carolina man has been arrested and faces kidnapping charges following an incident in March 2024 in which a woman signaled for help by writing “call 911” on a hotel window with soap, authorities report.

Keith Jerome Galloway, 41, is also facing charges of first-degree assault and battery, according to a press release from the North Charleston Police Department. Officers responded to a hotel on Northside Drive at approximately 10:30 p.m. on March 13, 2024. When they arrived, they found the female victim inside a hotel room, suffering visible injuries. Police noted that the room appeared “disordered.”

The woman told investigators that she had met Galloway the previous week and considered him a friend. She said a dispute over a lost room deposit and the potential requirement to leave the hotel escalated into violence. According to her statement, Galloway allegedly destroyed her phone, blocked her from leaving, and repeatedly assaulted her, leaving her visibly injured. Other hotel guests reportedly heard her screams.

After the alleged assault, Galloway fled the hotel on foot. The woman then wrote “call 911” along with her room number on a window using soap. This message caught the attention of other guests, who contacted law enforcement. Police later identified Galloway as the suspect.

Authorities issued arrest warrants for Galloway on April 1 at the Berkeley County Jail. He was subsequently transferred to the Al Cannon Detention Center.

This is not Galloway’s first run-in with the law.

Earlier in March 2024, he and Tabitha Lynn Scott were arrested after shots were reportedly fired at a police officer during a traffic stop. According to ABC News 4, Galloway faced multiple charges, including two counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon as a convicted felon, criminal conspiracy, pointing a firearm at a person, failure to stop for police lights, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Galloway also has prior arrests. In 2019, he was charged with third-degree assault and battery and trafficking in methamphetamine or cocaine base, according to WBTW.
