President Trump announced that the United States has destroyed Iran’s largest bridge. A senior US official told the Wall Street Journal that American forces conducted two airstrikes Thursday on the B1 Bridge, a key connection between Tehran and the city of Karaj, intended to hinder Iran’s movement of ballistic missile and drone components.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared videos showing part of the $400 million suspension bridge, still under construction, collapsing onto a causeway, according to the Guardian.

“The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — Much more to follow!” Trump wrote. “IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!”

Iranian state media reported that the second strike occurred as rescuers were responding to the first, resulting in two deaths and several injuries. The BBC verified images showing a large gap in the bridge, with construction cranes visible on both sides.

The strikes followed Trump’s primetime address on the conflict, where he warned the US would hit Iran “extremely hard over the next two to three weeks” and said the country would be brought “back to the Stone Ages, where they belong.”

In response, Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi posted a photo of the damage on X and issued a defiant statement: “Striking civilian structures, including unfinished bridges, will not compel Iranians to surrender. It only conveys the defeat and moral collapse of an enemy in disarray. Every bridge and building will be built back stronger. What will never recover: damage to America’s standing.”
