Police confirmed that five Barbie dolls from the same shipment, purchased between March 19 and March 20, contained the drugs. Working alongside Cargo Largo staff, officers used sales records and customer outreach to locate and retrieve all five packages within a few hours.
No customers or employees were harmed, and the dolls themselves were not contaminated. Later laboratory analysis revealed that the substance was primarily cocaine with small amounts of fentanyl, according to a statement from Cargo Largo.
The store has traced the affected shipment, conducted K-9 inspections of its facilities—which returned clean results—and is now implementing routine checks to prevent similar incidents.
Officials stressed that there is no current threat to shoppers or staff. All findings have been reported to local and federal authorities, including the DEA. The Independence Police Department noted that there is no indication other shipments or stores were involved, though the investigation continues.
